THE PROBLEM

Brooklyn Center Community Schools was at a crossroads. Attendance had dropped, morale was low and the district was seeking to not only recapture its lost heritage but also communicate that it was progressive-thinking, anti-racist and inclusive. They needed a new brand, new image, new messaging and branded spaces in all of their buildings – that would champion the positivity and transformative change that were taking place behind the scenes.
Furthermore, they wanted to celebrate academics and learning and make sure their students felt valued.

OUR SOLUTION

We started by leading strategic discovery sessions with key stakeholders across the district –leaning into the essence of the brand we helped them discover who they really were. We then created a versatile brand system with elaborate messaging and guidelines that allowed us to affect spaces in each of the districts buildings. The mantra “We stand front and center” allowed us to celebrate learners and the community while communicating that this was a district that was anti-racist and inclusive. The final install included an array of wall graphics, signing systems, hanging banners and window graphics.
